Useful tips for downloading a file

PDF Store recommends using a download utility such as GetRight (Win), Download Accelerator (Win) or iGetter (Mac) to maximise your download ability. These utilities let you manage your downloads more efficiently, including the ability to speed up download time and resume broken downloads.

How to download a demo version

Firstly, locate the demo you wish to download and then click the "Get Demo" button. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to provide a valid email address and country. If you are logged in, you will be taken directly to the download page. The file should begin to download automatically, should your download not start, click on the link provided.

Most of the software available from PDF Store is distributed in compressed formats such as "zip", "sit", "hqx" or "gz". You will need to save the file to your local computer or network, decompress the file with the relevant program and then install the software.

No root certificate found

Problem: You receive a message stating something like "the remote server could not be trusted, no root or site certificate found for the server".

Solution: This appears to be an issue with some versions of Internet Explorer 6.0 where the client-side certificates for all of the major certificate authorities have lapsed. Contact us and report the problem.

In order to solve this problem you should download and install the following patch available from Windows Update:
www.windowsupdate.com > RECOMMENDED UPDATES > Root Certificates Update

Prompted to download ASP file instead of demo file

Problem: When prompted to save a demo file, the filename referred to is "download.asp".

Solution: Continue with download, the filename will resolve upon commencement of download.

Error writing to cache

Problem: Internet Explorer Saves HTML Content Instead of the Active Document (More info)

Whilst this Knowledge Base article does not specifically mention the cache issue, this general problem is referred to as being related by another Knowledge Base article for Microsoft Money users. In that they say that when you download an Active Statement from your bank's Web site, you may receive the following error message: "File cannot be written to cache."

Solution: You can correct this problem by loading the latest service pack for IE 5.5 (Click here)

Files with a "msi" extension

Problem: I downloaded a file was a "msi" extension and it will not open.

Solution: Only Windows ME and 2000 users have built-in MSI support with the installation of Windows. Users of Windows NT 4.0, 95 and 98 must download the MSI installer, if it was not already installed by another product's installation.

• Windows Installer v1.10 for Windows NT 4.0 (x86) (already built into Windows 2000) from Microsoft
• Windows Installer v1.10 for Windows 95 and 98 (already built into Windows ME) from Microsoft

Corrupt files

Problem: You are alerted that that file you downloaded is corrupt, the file may have corrupted during the download process.

Solution: Try downloading the software application again or contact us, and we will send you the installer as an email attachment. Please note that, due to both the high volume of such requests and the size of the installers, we do not send Acrobat Reader installers via email.

File not found

Problem: You receive a "file not found" error because the installer file you attempted to download is not currently available for download from our site.

Solution: Contact us and let us know exactly which software program and platform you were attempting to download. We will attempt to resolve the problem and can send you the installers as an email attachment. Please note that, due to both the high volume of such requests and the size of the installers, we do not send Acrobat Reader installers via email.
