activePDF DocConverter is an add-on for activePDF Server that dynamically converts Microsoft Office 2000, Office 97 and WordPerfect documents to PDF. DocConverter has an intelligent document "signature" module that can automatically detect the file type and redirect it to the correct converter. Conversion can take place by either dropping the file in specified directories or, by using the included COM component, conversions can take place "on-the-fly".

Dynamic Conversion of 280 Formats. Whether it's a few documents a day or thousands, only activePDF DocConverter offers this much in a single server-based package. With native support for Microsoft Word®, Excel®, Powerpoint® and WordPerfect®, as well as over 280 other formats, DocConverter takes the guesswork out of PDF conversion. With no per-document or per-user fees, activePDF DocConverter is the server-side leader in cost-effective, document-to-PDF conversion.

Smart Conversion Technology. activePDF DocConverter handles even the most complex Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents with ease. "Smart Conversion" technology deals with OLE integration issues, while our "Intelligent PDF" feature makes documents come alive by converting Word form fields, links, hyperlinks, table of contents, indexes, headings, and other elements into the PDF document.

Drag and Drop Simplicity. Out of the box, activePDF DocConverter operates in batch mode via directory scanning. The process is simple: define a "watched" folder on the network for DocConverter to scan. The end users can drag and drop files from their desktops to the network folder and DocConverter will convert them to PDF automatically, placing the resultant PDFs in an output folder for further processing or retrieval.

Easy to Integrate. activePDF DocConverter is the only PDF conversion product available that offers a remote submission COM component, making integration with your existing infrastructure as simple as a single method call. Using the COM component, you can quickly create processes to automatically submit document files to DocConverter server for on-the-fly PDF generation. activePDF also offers a free COM object that can be installed on separate servers or in workstation applications, for submission of remote or FTP conversions.

Batch Convert. Batch convert thousands of native documents within minutes.

SecureLM licensing Technology. activePDF DocConverter 3.8 now uses the new SecureLM licensing technology, so all activePDF products (with the exception of activePDF Printer) now use the same licensing mechanism).

Support for RTF File Conversion. Added to the Default processor in activePDF DocConverter 3.8. The RTFO processor and service have been removed.

DocConverter Maintenance Application. Now includes an option to allow or disallow printing of tracked changes when producing 'Intelligent PDF' files.

Log File Entry. An entry has been added to the log file to indicate when files are rejected due to password restrictions using activePDF DocConverter 3.8. The log file is now updated with a password rejection code of 50.

Default Processor. By default, the Default processor in activePDF DocConverter 3.8 is now set to check images (using CheckImagesFirst) before attempting conversion.
