"Custom PDF Viewers"

By Leah Lothringer

Issue 5 for 2007

Earlier this year in PDF Perspectives, I’ve discussed what it takes to produce your own
PDF solutions. The adoption of the PDF document standard has meant that developers
have become keen to include PDF output as part of proprietary software. However, while
some users need the ability to create PDF, many more of them need to be able to view
PDF.
PDF Quick View is designed to address this particular requirement, allowing
developers to add PDF viewing to their software. Support for bookmarks, links,
comments and more is included. As with most products offered at PDF Store, there is a
free demonstration version available for testing, so there needn’t be any guesswork
involved when determining whether this component is appropriate for your project.
Alternatively, Glyph & Cog’s XpdfViewer component also offers a viewing
component for custom applications and remains one of the most popular products at PDF
Store. Additionally, one can design a user interface that fits in with the look and feel of
the custom application.
Until next time, please browse PDF Store's Developer aisle for the complete range
of PDF development tools, libraries and components.
